This holiday season, I’m putting a fun (and delicious) spin on Artichoke and Asiago Dip with my recipe for Artichoke and Asiago Turnovers. My delicious, fresh filling is stuffed inside of flaky and buttery puff pastry and is perfect for any holiday party!
Servings: 18 pieces
Prep Time: 10 minutes | Cook Time: 20 minutes | Total Time: 30 minutes
- 1 cup artichoke hearts, drained and chopped
- 1/3 cup asiago cheese, shredded
- 1/2 cup cream cheese, softened
- 1/2 cup mayonnaise
- 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped
- 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
- 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
- 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 sheets puff pastry, thawed but still cold
- 1 egg, scrambled
- 1 tablespoon water
In a medium bowl, mix the artichoke hearts, asiago cheese, cream cheese, mayonnaise, parsley, lemon juice, cayenne pepper, and black pepper together until combined.
Sprinkle a few tablespoons of flour onto a clean, flat work surface. Unroll the puff pastry sheets and use a rolling pin to roll the puff pastry out into a square. Use a sharp knife to cut the puff pastry sheet into 9 even squares.
Place 1 heaping tablespoon of the artichoke mixture into the center of each square. Take the bottom corner of each square and fold it over to the top right hand corner. Next, use the tines of a fork to crimp the edges of the triangles to seal in the artichoke mixture. You may need to dip the fork into some flour so that it doesn’t stick. Repeat this for all the squares.
In a small bowl, combine the egg and water. Use a pastry brush to brush the egg mixture over the top of each of the turnovers to coat. This will ensure that it becomes golden brown when baked. Next, place the turnovers on two parchment-lined baking sheets so that they are at least 1 inch apart. Place the baking sheets and turnovers in the freezer for 5-10 minutes so that they become cold again.
Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F. Place the turnovers in the center of the oven and bake for 15-18 minutes, or until they have become golden brown. Once cooked, remove the turnovers from the oven and let them cool for 5 minutes. Finally, place them on a serving plate and serve warm. Enjoy!
