As spring approaches, I am preparing to organize my seed collection and deciding on new plant varieties to try in my garden for the upcoming gardening season. As always, I am gardening with West Coast Seeds (affiliate link) since they have so many unique seed varieties. Not only do they carry a wide range of seeds, they are always high quality and I know that I will always achieve success with any plant grown from their seeds.
In this blog post, we will explore the new seeds that I will be trying out this year and their unique features. Additionally, I am excited to share some practical and aesthetic garden accessories that will add lots of style to your garden.

New Seeds
Kincho Scallions
Kincho Scallions are known for their robust flavor, adding a light onion flavour to any recipe. I have grown other varieties of scallions before including Eiffel and Red Beard. However, I am eager to try this Kincho variety as they do not form bulbs, making them easier to slice when I am ready to cook them. They also grow fast and gardeners should expect a harvest in only 50 days.
Chives
For a slightly different oniony flavour, I am growing chives as a herb in my garden. Chives offer a subtle onion flavor that complements a variety of spring, summer, and fall recipes. Chives are an easy plant to grow as a beginner as they are hardy, low-maintenance herbs that thrive in various growing conditions. Beyond their culinary uses, chive plants feature attractive purple blooms that are edible and that pollinators love!

Sungold Cherry Tomatoes
Sungold cherry tomatoes are some of the sweetest cherry tomatoes that I have ever tasted. I have grown these for four years in a row and I finally ran out of seeds, hence the new seed packet for this year! I have had great success with these tomatoes every year and I love how they go great in summer recipes, or just eaten fresh off the vines. These golden tomatoes grow in clusters and are a great indeterminate cherry tomato variety.
Black Magic Jalapenos
I am excited to try a new variety of jalapeno peppers this year in my garden. For many years, I have grown the Jalapeno M variety from West Coast Seeds. While I had great success, I wanted to try out another variety to see if they are more productive and have a different flavour. This Black Magic Jalapeno is promised to have a floral flavour with a mild spice and an abundant yield.
Super Sugar Snap Peas
If you are looking for a variety of peas that you can eat both the shell and the peas inside, look no further than these Super Sugar Snap Peas. I have grown these peas for years on a garden trellis and have finally refreshed my seed packet this year. These peas have a shell that is super sweet and crunchy. They have a good amount of water when they are ripe, making them a little hydrating snack while you are working in the garden.

New Garden Accessories
Copper Plant Labels
I have been searching for these aesthetic copper plant labels for a few years now, and I am happy to report that West Coast Seeds carries an affordable version! I love the traditional look of these and will not only make the garden look nice, it will also help identify plants as they are growing. These copper plant labels have a galvanized stand to ensure they do not rust while being outdoors. They come in a 6-inch and 10-inch length, but I chose the 6-inch length for my garden this year.
Garden Marker
To label these copper plant labels, I have picked up a tried-and-true garden marker for this gardening season. This is great for identifying your plants and improving garden organization. This marker is fade-resistant and can withstand sun and water throughout the gardening season. It is made with alcohol-based ink and can be removed with isopropyl alcohol.
