Apple Cider Citrus Fizz

I am starting the year off strong with my new favourite drink recipe: Apple Cider Citrus Fizz!

This concoction my sound strange, but it tastes delicious and packs a bunch of health benefits that can help you start off the New Year on the right foot! But really, you can enjoy this drink at any time….I especially can’t wait for the summer to enjoy this on the patio!

The Health Benefits of Apple Cider Vinegar and Citrus

The health benefits of this drink are mainly derived from the apple cider vinegar and the citrus juice that I add to this drink recipe.

Apple cider vinegar has risen in popularity in the past few years in the health community. It is known (and actually has proven scientific evidence) for its benefits for lowering blood sugar levels, lowering cholesterol, and even helping you lose weight if consumed regularly. Plus, it  contains beneficial bacteria that promote gut health that will keep you feeling good! *Note- guidelines suggest consuming only up to two tablespoons of apple cider vinegar per day.

In addition to tasting delicious, lemon and lime juice also have many health benefits as well. Both contain high amounts of vitamin C and antioxidants and they both contain flavinoids that are anti-inflammatory any may even be anti-carcinogenic. Plus, lemons and limes are totally in season right now, so this is the perfect time to eat them! 🍋

A Refreshing Kombucha-Like Drink

While all of these health benefits are amazing, it’s a little hard to drink apple cider vinegar on it’s own, let alone mixed with water as many people do to consume it. I’ve tried it a few times and I can barely handle it! So to get these health benefits, I decided to mix the apple cider vinegar with some lemon and lime juice. You would think that mixing three acidic ingredients together would be even worse, but the lemon and lime juice adds lots of freshness to balance out the apple cider vinegar. Plus, with the addition of honey to help smooth and sweeten the drink, you’ll be wanting to have this all the time!

Once it’s topped with sparking water and a sprig of mint, this drink is reminiscent of kombucha with a little bit of effervescence, sweetness and a touch of acidity. I guarantee that this will be an instant favourite!

Recipe: Apple Cider Citrus Fizz


My Apple Cider Citrus Fizz is one healthy concoction that will give you a healthy boost at any time of the day. This refreshing drink has lemon and lime zest with a splash of apple cider vinegar, and is sweetened with honey.


Servings: 10

Difficulty: Easy

Prep Time:  10 minutes   |   Cook Time: 0 minutes   |   Total Time: 10 minutes

Ingredients:

  • 1/3 cup lemon juice
  • 1/2 cup lime juice
  • 2 teaspoons apple cider vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon local honey
  • Sparkling water
  • 2 sprigs of mint, for garnish

Directions:

Add the lemon juice, lime juice, apple cider vinegar and honey to a bowl and mix until the honey has completely dissolved.

Pour half of the citrus mix into each glass filled with ice. Top with sparkling water and a sprig of fresh mint.
