A classic hot chocolate is the perfect way to stay warm and festive this winter! This recipe gets a refreshing kick from peppermint extract and a festive candy cane garnish. Feel free to add a shot of espresso to turn this into a Peppermint Mocha!

Prep Time:  5 minutes   |   Cook Time: 5 minutes   |   Total Time: 10 minutes

Ingredients: 

  • 1 1/2 cups milk, 2%
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup dark chocolate chips
  • 1/4 teaspoon peppermint extract
  • Marshmallows, for garnish (optional)
  • 2 candy canes, for garnish (optional)

Directions:

Add the milk and cream to a small pot and heat the contents slowly over medium-high heat, stirring occasionally.

Add the chocolate chips and peppermint extract and whisk to combine.

Serve warm topped with marshmallows and with a candy cane garnish.
