New Years Intentions & Upcoming Events in 2020

Happy New Year!🍾✨ As we begin a new year (and new decade!), I always try to set some goals and intentions to improve my life in the coming year. These goals and intentions are framed a bit differently than traditional resolutions, which to me, feel more pressured and like you have to achieve no matter what. My goals and intentions are things that I truly want for myself and my wellbeing. I don’t feel immense pressure to achieve them, and I’m working on them at my own pace and on my own terms. If you’re setting your goals and intentions for 2020, you can get some ideas on things you may wish to achieve in my post down below and you can see my process on how I plan my goals and intentions for the year! And apart from setting goals and intentions, I also like to plan out the year so that I can look forward to all the fun travel and exciting life milestones that are in store for 2020. And this year…I …

Our Engagement Story

Today, David and I are celebrating our first year of engagement! I can’t believe that exactly one year ago today, he got down on one knee and asked to me to spend the rest of my life with him. Not that I thought this would never happen, I just didn’t expect it…at all! And when he pulled out that beautiful ring, it totally sealed the deal <3  To celebrate this wonderful occasion, I thought I would share our engagement story with you all and let you know what is up next for us on this amazing journey together.  Celebrating our engagement anniversary yesterday! The Plan So let me say upfront that I was completely shocked when David proposed. I knew that we would be together eventually, but he kept everything under wraps so well that I didn’t even suspect a thing. And it’s hard to get things past me; I can always pick up on when something is going to happen or can feel when something is off.  On the evening before he proposed, David …

Getaway Guide: Tofino & Ucluelet

A few weeks ago, David and I took a weekend trip to Tofino and Ucluelet to celebrate his birthday. For us, it’s an annual tradition that we visit these two lovely ocean-side towns in early spring. While it’s a bit of a trek to get there, we always have fun along the way. Plus, it all pays off when you take that first breath of ocean air and feel calm, relaxed and completely serene. I look forward to that feeling every year.  Located about four hours away by car from Victoria (and five hours from Vancouver), these two small towns are nestled on the very west coast of Vancouver Island. They are located about 40 minutes away from each other and are separated by the beautiful Pacific Rim National Park. Fishing vessel in Ucluelet Of these towns, Tofino is the most popular. It has become world-renowned for its hippie vibe, outdoor activities, nature and amazing local and sustainable food– especially seafood. Additionally, Tofino has varying types of accommodations available at just about every price point. You …

Dine Around Victoria 2019

Dine Around Victoria is one of the most anticipated foodie events of the year. During late January to mid-February, restaurants across the city are on their A-game, showcasing their best dishes for us hungry customers. This year, a total of 57 restaurants took part in this event, and offered set-price, three course menus at various price points ranging from $20-$50.  While I wish I could have gone to many more restaurants this Dine Around season, I managed to get out to two fabulous local restaurants. With the festival all wrapped up for 2019, I thought I would tell you about the great experience I had and to hopefully inspire you to get out and enjoy this event next year! Disclaimer: I am not interested in writing restaurant reviews, and by no means is this one. I just want to share my experiences (that both happened to be fantastic) during Dine Around Victoria. Little Jumbo Little Jumbo is Victoria’s best kept secret. This restaurant serves up some of the best local West Coast/Canadian casual cuisine that I’ve …

Love Local: Holiday Gift Guide 2018

The holidays are just around the corner that means that means it’s time to get some holiday shopping done! Nowadays, holiday shopping doesn’t need to be stressful or cost hundreds of dollars. In fact, I have completed my Christmas shopping early and have completely avoided shopping malls. That’s right! This holiday season, I am giving lots of local goodies to my friends and family from my favourite shops on Vancouver Island! After moving to southern Vancouver Island earlier this year, I have discovered so many delicious and locally made products. From artisan chocolates to wines, Vancouver Island has it all! So I thought, why not share these local goodies with my loved ones this Christmas? Not only do I love these products and have used them time and time again, supporting local businesses is a great way for your money to feed directly back into local communities and the local economy. In my opinion, that’s much better than my money going to big corporations! And with the amazing quality of these products, they are much better than …
