Tomatoes and Peppers

Whenever I begin planning my garden, I always start off with tomatoes and peppers. For me, these are the most exiting things to grow because they are beautiful and taste delicious. Luckily, there are so many colourful varieties of tomatoes and peppers that will fit my colourful garden theme, so here are my picks for this year:

Leafy Greens and Fall Squash

Next, the shoulder season crops. I mainly grow lettuce in the spring and fall to get the best results and to avoid bolting. There are some exciting new varieities that I am looking forward to trying, particularly the Monterosa raddichio.

I am also looking forward to a colourful garden in the fall with these unique and vibrant squash and pumpkins. These are going to look stunning growing over my trellis!

Colourful Flowers

A garden isn’t complete without flowers, and these are the easiest way to bring colour into your space. Again, there are endless varieties of flowers and colours available so you can really be specific with your colour palette, or have all the colours!

When I think about flowers, I think about the timing that they will bloom and what colours I want for that season. So in the spring, I often lean for more pastels in pinks and purples, whereas in summer, I like bring vibrant colours like pink and yellow. Then in the fall, I like deep oranges, yellows and browns. Consider this especially if you are planning to cut your flowers and enjoy them in your home so that you can be perfectly in tune with the season!
