What is a Tartine?

A tartine is a French open-faced sandwich consisting of a slice of bread topped with a variety of ingredients. The bread used is typically a sturdy type like a French loaf, country loaf, or sourdough.

There are tons of variations on tartines as they can be made savory or sweet. This versatility allows you to enjoy your favourite seasonal ingredients on toast for any meal of the day: breakfast, lunch, snack, or dinner. Overall, they are appreciated for their simplicity, the quality of their ingredients, and their visually appealing presentation.
