Easy 3-Ingredient Chocolate Mousse (No Gelatin) – Perfect for Valentine’s Day
Melissa
This Easy Chocolate Mousse is a simple, no-gelatin Valentine’s Day dessert made with just three ingredients: whipping cream, dark chocolate, and milk chocolate. It is rich and perfectly balanced, plus it can be made ahead and customized with chocolate-covered strawberries, cookies, and mint for an elegant finish. If you can whip cream, you can make this mousse!
Add both chocolates and the coffee to a heatproof bowl set over a pot of gently simmering water (a double boiler). The steam from the water will slowly and gently melt the chocolate. Stir until the chocolate is melted and smooth, then remove from heat and let it cool for about 5 minutes.
Whip the Cream and Add Chocolate
While the chocolate cools, whip the cream using a hand blender or stand mixer until stiff peaks form. Set aside.
Once the chocolate has cooled slightly, add 3/4 of it into the whipped cream. Save the remaining 1/4 for the garnishes. Using a spatula, gently fold the chocolate into the cream until fully combined. Take your time here so you keep as much air in the mixture as possible. That air is what makes the mousse light and fluffy.
Chill and Garnish
Spoon the mousse into serving cups, cover with plastic wrap, and refrigerate for at least 2 hours to set.
Before serving, decorate with the chocolate-dipped strawberries, chocolate-drizzled egg roll cookies, and a sprig of fresh mint. Enjoy!
Notes
This recipe makes two generous portions, which is perfect for Valentine's Day. You can easily divide the recipe to feed 4 if you use smaller cups or serving bowls.
